History
1981 After years of working for the tax office, tax consultant and graduate tax consultant Peter Ruge founded his individual practice in Norderstedt near Hamburg. A short time later, the first employee is hired.
In 2011, lawyer Bastian Ruge LL.M. joined his father’s tax consultancy firm after working at the International Tax Institute (IIFS) at the University of Hamburg and at a major international law firm.
In the same year and following several years as managing director of a medium-sized tax firm in Hamburg, Sascha Fehsenfeld LL.M. founded his own law and tax consultancy firm as a lawyer and tax consultant in Bergstedt, in Hamburg’s Walddörfer district and directly adjacent to the Alster Valley.
In 2016, after years of cooperation, the tax law firms Ruge and Fehsenfeld merged to form RUGE FEHSENFELD, a law firm specializing in tax advice as well as corporate and asset succession. In addition to the three partners, the team now consists of 16 employees.
In 2017, the two previous locations in Norderstedt and Bergstedt are closed and the firm moves into shared offices with a large roof terrace in the modern Hanse 10ter Grad office complex in Langenhorn in the north of Hamburg, in the immediate vicinity of Hamburg Airport.
In 2019, the existing office space is expanded from 700 sqm to almost 1,000 sqm.
The second expansion of the office space to 1,300 sqm will take place in 2021. In addition to various social rooms and kitchens, employees now also have access to a fitness room and shower.
2023 The two tax consultants Julia Kirschke and Johannes Ebner are appointed partners in the firm.
2024 RUGE FEHSENFELD joins the international consultancy network Association of International Tax Consultants (AITC) and becomes the sole representative for the German market. This exclusive network gives the firm worldwide access to renowned tax experts for international matters.
Today, the team of the firm, which remains owner-managed, comprises more than 40 colleagues, 9 of whom are professionals.

RUGE FEHSENFELD is a firm specializing exclusively in tax advisory and inheritance law, as well as their intersection, located in the north of Hamburg near the city border to Norderstedt. Our focus is on the personal consultation of medium-sized entrepreneurs and businesses in all legal forms, as well as wealthy private individuals both domestically and internationally.
At the heart of our service is the client and their comprehensive tax or inheritance law consultation. Economic thinking, as well as consistent and professional action in implementation, are key components of our daily work. We passionately advise in areas such as corporate tax law, comprehensive tax advisory and planning, international tax law, tax voluntary disclosure, business succession, will drafting, and will execution.
We do not work within rigid frameworks but take pleasure in developing creative solutions for the benefit of our clients. For legal matters outside of tax and inheritance law, we cooperate closely and trustfully with other specialized law firms.
